This Is My Why: Where Mission Meets Impact

Why do you work for Circle Ten Council?

After over 10 years in the nonprofit world, Circle Ten Council is the only organization I have experienced that truly creates life-changing impact. I was drawn here because of the mission, but I stay because of the people and the real, measurable differences we make in young people’s lives every day.

Why do you believe in Scouting?

I believe in Scouting because it is volunteer-led and professionally guided. Before coming to Circle Ten, I never imagined volunteers at this scale and level of dedication existed.

These volunteers don’t just serve youth — they also support each other, and they have supported me. Within my first month at Circle Ten, I was welcomed with open arms and a kind of warmth I had never experienced in any other organization.

Why is Scouting important for the youth of today?

Scouting teaches leadership, responsibility, and values in a world that often feels uncertain. It gives young people a safe space to grow, to fail, to try again, and to develop the confidence they need to become leaders in their families, schools, and communities.

What impact have you seen – or personally experienced – through Scouting?

The impact I’ve seen through Scouting is real. I’ve watched young people find the courage to lead, discover their passions, and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

I’ve also seen parents and volunteers find purpose and community as they serve. It’s rare to find an organization where everyone — from the Scouts to the parents to the volunteers — walks away better than when they came. That’s why I believe in this mission every day.
